Brown Sugar Bear
A little care for your Brown Sugar Bear
Plain water, a clean towel, and a lid that closes well. That's the place to start.
Your first soak
- Inspect the bear for chips or damage.
- Submerge it in clean lukewarm water for about 20 minutes.
- Pat the outside dry so no visible droplets remain.
- Place it with brown sugar and close the container tightly.
Keep an eye on the sugar
Re-soak when the sugar starts to firm up. How often you need to do this depends on the container, climate, and use. Hard sugar needs time to soften; a 20-minute soak is preparation time for the bear.
Clean gently
Rinse with plain water. Do not use soap or fragrance, which porous clay can retain. Let stuck sugar dissolve rather than scraping with a sharp tool. Allow the bear to dry completely before storing it separately.
Use the right starting condition
Hydrated use helps supply moisture. Completely dry use, where described in the product instructions, absorbs moisture. Keep different uses separate, especially with strongly scented ingredients.
Handle it as pottery
Remove the bear before pouring, weighing, or mixing. Do not use chipped, broken, or repaired ceramic with food. Keep it out of the dishwasher and avoid heating methods that are not specified for your exact product.
